Risk of major complications in women undergoing open abdominal hysterectomy for benign disease
In women undergoing an abdominal hysterectomy for benign disease, this calculator can be used to individualize the risk of major complications.

Major complications include ureteric, gastrointestinal or vascular injury, wound complications requiring operative treatment, other serious complications including shock, renal failure and external resuscitation within 28 days of surgery. These major complications are comparable to the modified Clavien-Dindo classification grades III-IV.

The model has been developed and validated using a national database. it was developed in 109,979 women undergoing a laparoscopic hysterectomy from 2011-2018. It was validated in 15,992 women in the same time period in a held out region.

There is a separate model available for use for women undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy for benign disease.
